This website has been updated as a resource for communities and students who are interested in rural interprofessional learning and collaborative practice in British Columbia. While the Interprofessional Rural Program of BC is no longer coordinating and supporting student teams in rural BC communities, we are pleased to share our experience and wealth of learning from our collective journey of supporting rural communities in hosting health sciences students in an interprofessional and community context.
We invite you to explore the site and reflect on opportunities for you as a student, a rural community or health provider to be involved in fostering rural collaborative learning and practice.
Purpose of this website:
- Profile an approach to the interprofessional education in rural communities that began in 2003 and was successfully carried out until 2011.
- Share examples of how BC rural communities and interprofessional champions in those communities are integrating the concepts of interprofessional learning and collaboration into rural practice.
- Reinforce the lessons we have learned since 2003 from integrating rural interprofessional learning into health and education in British Columbia.
- Provide links to resources for rural communities and practitioners.
